Qinhuangdao Oilport is located in Qinhuangdao City on the Western
Liaoning Corridor, where Hebei Province and Liaoning Province meet.
The place, at the juncture of North China Economic Zone and Northeast
China Economic Zone and in the center of Bohai Sea locked economic
region, is the strategic communication link between Beijing, Tianjin,
Hebei Province and the three provinces in Northeast China as well
as an important access to sea-borne transportation for Beijing.
Qinhuangdao Oilport is China's first oilport which carries oil by
pipelines, and the largest transit and distributing center for crude,
petroleum products and liquid chemical products in North China.
A 984km long oil pipeline and a 368km long pipeline closely link
the dock of Qinhuangdao Oilport with Daqing Oilfield and Yanshan
Petrochemical Corporation of Beijing. Thanks to the continuous development
after it was put into operation since Oct. 6, 1973, the oilport
currently owns four berths, including two 20000-ton berths, one
50000-ton berth and one 5000-ton berth, with an annual cargo handling
capacity of 16.5 million tons. It can undertake loading and unloading
of 2000-60000 ton liquified bulk cargo carriers. During the past
27 years it has established business relationships with more than
30 plants and companies and has undertaken the transit, loading
and unloading of more than 270 million tons and more than 10 kinds
of bulk liquid cargo, including crude, gasoline, diesel, calcium
phosphate, jet fuel, naphtha, heavy oil, ethylene dichloride and
methanol.
The oilport is equipped with 3 loading bridges for railway wagons,
which can allow 3 railway wagons to load and unload simultaneously.
There exist in the oilport various storage tanks of more than 1.3
million m3 in total volume, which belong to The first stevedoring
company of Qinhuangdao port Authority, CNPC, Dongfang Petrochemical
Co.ltd, Yonghui Petrochemical Co.ltd, etc, as well as one modern
sewage treatment plant. In addition, it is fully and well equipped
with safety facilities, environmental protection equipment and various
kinds of auxiliary facilities.
As the largest transit center for bulk liquid in North China, Qinhuangdao
Oilport has preserved enough land for holding storage tanks of 2.8
million m3 in total volume. During the Tenth Five-Year Plan, it
will further enlarge the port. The major project currently under
consideration is a 250000-ton berth for crude oil.
